Hey, I'm Kirsty, I'm 13 years old. When I was about 1O and at primary school, my friend told me that I should start sitting straight as when I'm older my back would start to curve over. I didn't listen to her, I was a few moths older so I thought I knew better! A few years later, at highschool, another friend of mine told me I looked like a penguin from the side because of my back/top of neck, I was very shocked! I suddenly remebered what my younger friend told me at primary, was I wrong to ignore her?YES! Every since the 'penguin' incident, I have tried so very hard to stand up straight, but I just can't phisically do it without harsh pains in the lower and higher parts of my back. More and more people at school are noticing, even my own mum told me my back looked curved over! Eventually, I got lightly bullied because of it, not by bullies, but by my mates just messing about, but they didn't understand how much it hurt me inside! One day when I was walking home with them all, I heard one lad 'Lucas' Say 'oh my god!have you seen the state of Kirsty's back, she needs to see a cairopractor, haha, she looks like a hunchback...whatta freak!' I ran away, out of 3O people I was with, only 2 followed me, I was gutted, started crying....he didn't even say sorry. You may laugh when you read this, but I'm just trying to let you know how important it is for you to sit/stand up straight! I am still getting called names because of my back being a little less straight then others, it's pathetic! My back 'problem' has nothing to do with them, but yet they thing they have the cheek to say all this shit to me! It really hurts inside, It is something I cannot help anymore, I left it too late and now I am going to have to suffer for it....got myself to blame i guess!:-/ Kirsty<3'
