People that have pets often know what it means to lose a pet and not be able to find it. However, through research the development of the chip was introduced and peoples soon found it much easier to find their pets.

  Recently the pet GPS has been invented in the form of a collar and there are those who think it could prove to be very helpful in finding their pets.

  Although there is a debate going on about the pet GPS system as to being compared to the pet chip. Some say the GPS can easily be removed from the pet and destroyed. This of course is true, they also dispute the battery life of the pet GPS system as well.

  With the pet chip there is no way to remove it without harming the pet and most people who want to steal or keep the pet do not want to harm the pet. It is also very difficult to determine whether the pet has a pet chip or not.

  Through technology researchers claim that the pet GPS is better than the chip in the sense that it can pinpoint the pet to the exact location of the pet. Only there are those skeptics that wonder for how long. It only takes a few minutes to get the pet GPS collar off and then discard it. This way the people who have the pet are initially long gone and only the pet GPS system is recovered. Also, if the pet is hurt or lost the battery life on the pet GPS is designed to only have a limited amount of battery life so where is the point here?

  Many people still rely on the pet chip as the answer and some have even tried the pet GPS system and gone back to relying on the pet chip. Especially with the smaller pets as the pet GPS system doesn’t actually fit properly on the smaller pets. This of course, if a cause for alarm among pet owners who don’t want to lose their pets. If in fact the pet GPS system can be developed better and for smaller pets too, then maybe more consumers would purchase them. But they aren’t going to purchase the pet GPS system if there is a risk of somehow losing their pets,

  The cost of these pet GPS collars is already considered expensive and if new improvements are made to the collars they will most likely cost even more. While pet chips are not cheap they serve a better purpose for pet owners in being capable of having some peace of mind that their pets will stay safe. Until improvements have to be made before more people will take the chance of using the GPS collar system in the future.
