Since 1902, teddy bear has been around us. The first teddy bear wasn’t from child’s imagination but it was from presidents hunting escapade. Once Theodore Roosevelt was hunting with his friends they came across a black bear cub, they brought the cub to Roosevelt so he could make the kill. All the members wanted the beast shot and killed, but Theodore would have no part of it.

    Cliff Barry man a cartoonist made cartoon of this scene, and shopkeeper Brooklyn was inspired to make the first teddy bear. He requested Roosevelt's permission to name the new toy "Teddy" after him. The first teddy bears weren't all that friendly looking and the smiles you see today weren't there, neither were the bendable arms and legs.

    Now teddy bears are available in different shapes and sizes and for different occasions too. You can choose the bear you like, and even have them personalized in a lot of places. Teddy bears are symbols of love and compassion, and have been for years. All age groups people like teddy bears as small children love to snuggle up to their teddy’s at night, as a sense of security, while Older people love the little bears, because the feeling of nostalgia they bring to them. And what young lady doesn't appreciate a teddy bear from her admirer?

     The teddy bears have now become widely known gift to purchase, they are sort of affection, and give the recipient a warm feeling inside. Most of the people choose teddy bear as gift because of sentimental feelings behind the adorable little bears. Christmas is a big holiday for bears, and they have been incorporated in Santa's village for quite a while. A Valentine’s Day is when teddy bear sales soar through roof!

    Collectable teddy bears are little different from normal ones, and they are often expensive. Some collectable Teddy bears sell for thousands of dollars. They can be made from a lot of materials like jade or porcelain. Whether your teddy bears are for a collection, or personal reasons, they will delight you and your family for years to come!
