Many devotees of solar power and alternative energy sources speak overwhelmingly about it sometimes. But it is true that it is the one that is precious one and is easily possible. These inexhaustible sources of energy are very less polluting and it is the same in manufacturing the components of it. And moreover there is no need to depend on rickety countries for getting raw material from them.


    Solar energy that is radiated from the sun into atmosphere is converted into electrical energy by making the sun light fall on PV (photovoltaic) module and thereby it generates current which is supplied to home or business works with the help of wires and circuit breakers which are generally used by utility company.


    Speaking about wind-generated electricity, the process is entirely different from solar energy. Here the wind helps in turning a propeller that is mounted on a shaft that is surrounded by a magnet. The magnet here will be wrapped by a coil of wire and when the shaft rotates, the magnet rotates and develops a force on electrons in the wire. The force developed on electrons makes them move along and helps in generating electrical current.

    
    The two methods discussed above are very simple and cost free. But converting them into functional electricity possesses some costs and there exist some engineering challenges and physical limitations. The equipments required for producing the above sources of energy such as wind turbine and PV (photovoltaic) module should be manufactured, transported and installed which is not at all free. Moreover the cost that is met is inefficient as the power produced here is very less compared to power produced from oil, coal and natural gas.


    Many modifications were made and it has been proved that these sources cannot be more efficient like other sources. Simply saying, solar energy sometimes at the equator reaches in amounts of 1,000 watts whereas sometimes it gets down to 125-375W/m2.


    But, a house owner can utilize the power produced from the solar panels covered on his roof if he is careful about the usage. Problems faced by wind systems are entirely different. They are like regular killing of birds and they should be connected to the storage systems. They will not be able to produce the amount of electrical demanded during various situations.


    Though all these difficulties arouse, solar and wind energy sources take their own share in energy market. Being totally free from environmental pollution, they are mostly praised by all. Like other sources, they do not need any importing of oil, digging of coal and any other materials which take active participation in environmental and political problems.


    For improving technologically and to get more efficiency and to reduce the cost of production thereby meeting the increased power demand, there are lots of researches going on. There will come sometime when there will be a displacement of the current production schemes. The future lies in best ideas.
