Language is a special gift of God to mankind. If there were no language human civilization would have remained impossibility. It is present every where in our thoughts, dreams, meditations, relations, prayers and communications. Apart from being a means of communication it is the source of thinking as well as expression. This is the reason why it is termed as “species uniform” possession of human beings.

Since a man interacts with the society, language plays a vital role in human societies. The language can serve in the progress of society in the following ways.

Language is a means of communication, a kind of social tool which is essential for you want to interact socially with the society.

You can not understand nature without language as the names; classification and explanation of natural objects depend upon language. Man would have remained deprived of the Divine message of god if there were no language. It helped in making him capable of receiving and understanding his purpose of life.

Man is able to preserve his past with the help of language. The written record of past events helps you to understand the past.

Language helps you to understand the culture and life styles of the other societies. It is due to language that we are able to communicate with the other societies and to mix up with them.

You can share your feelings, ideas, emotions, beliefs, and thoughts with other people and listen to them just because of the presence of language, which helps you gain knowledge.

There would have been no poets, philosophers, political leaders, writers, and other forms of art introduced in the world if language was not there.

Thus it can rightly be said that language fulfilled the basic human need of talking and enabled him to depend on others for its various needs in order to live. He interacted with another human being, and in this way a society established with language as a tool of communication in its hand.

Thus language has played a significant role in the service of mankind and it can be considered as a pioneer in the progress of human civilization.
