The growing poverty has become a curse on the society, and its nature has become vulgar day by day. Poverty was present in the past, it is also present now and it will be present in the future also. Poverty has been given a certificate of merit from many quarters. It is also a non ignorable fact that nobody desires poverty for himself or for his children. Poverty is the worst curse and yet it is extolled as a blessing-but there is no proper reason for this.

It is a mental luxury to pretend to prefer a condition of life which is a contrast to the safety of our own life. People who enjoy the life of safety and security pretend to love danger but in the actual fact this danger is loved by poor people. These poor people risk their life for a little amount of money and to earn for their living. We come to learn about poverty through magazines or newspapers or through poems and stories. These stories are the actual facts faced by the poor people and the people who take the essence of these sentimental stories and poems are those who are rich. These people actually hate poverty and throws out a beggar if wrongly entered into their premises.

When a famous or well known person in the society falls sick or faces through any kind of problem a whole lot helping hands comes for their rescues. But no one bothers to peep into a poor man’s window when any problem surrounds him. We usually come to hear political leaders making a huge lot of fake promises to the poor’s at the time prior to election. When the election is over the leader who made the promises for the poor’s forgets to recognize these poor and needy humans.

This world is a colorful stage where everybody has to play his part. Here the rich people are recognized for their doings but there is no place for poor people to act even as a ‘spot boy’. Though we classified people in the society as poor, lower middle, middle, higher middle and rich but actuality is changing nowadays. The rich people are becoming richer and the poor are becoming are poorer day by day.

Self-help always deserves praise. But in the modern social and economic set up poverty with its attendant evils can only be fought or removed by strategically planned measures. It is up to each and every government to see to it that all such taken measures to prevent poverty should be carried out with responsibility and sincerity. Poverty is an evil and curse. Its effects are severe; it completely degrades a person mentally but also bodily, morally and spiritually. It provides pain to life and robs all the joy. The almighty Jesus, Buddha, and all our famous saints only expressed their love for the poor ones but did nothing. The fact is that may be the poor are blessed but poverty is not.
