Nano Technology
    Nanotechnology is the branch of engineering sciences that deals with the things which are smaller than the scale of 10^-9 (particularly handles the individual molecules) or we can say that the technology which works at atomic or molecular level is called as Nano Technology.

Nanotechnology is the technology that we are using nowadays to create high performance products with the use of simple tools and techniques. The theory of development of Nanotechnology was given by Richard Feynman in 1959 but K. Eric Drexler gave generalized definition of the word “Nano technology”. He talked about designing heavy machinery at molecular scale, like a few inch wide motor, robot arms, etc. Drexler claim of terming Nano technology useful was not accepted by other scientists. Then he started working on it and he spent his ten years working, analyzing, eliciting and describing these incredible inventions and he proved to the science and general world that Nano technology is useful.

    Nowadays, the industry of nanotechnology is growing very rapidly because common man is using nanotechnology like Cellular phones, Laptops, iPods, CD players, Mp3 Players, etc. in his everyday life as it’s becoming cheap and easily available as hardware costs is decreasing.

MISCONCEPTIONS:

There are lots of misconceptions in our mind that nanotechnology is shrinking the size of our things as the whole concentration of nanotechnology is to make macro-scale devices smaller. Nanotechnology is now working to make transistors smaller than they are. A typical Intel Pentium 4 chip contains 2 million transistors. Therefore, nanotechnology gives us a way out of these technological and financial cul-de-sacs by making devices by following the bottom-up approach. Now the awareness of nanotechnology will allow us to create new computer architecture, with the surety that the functionality and work of new and improved transistors will give better performance then before.

NANOTECHNOLOGY IS NEW:

It is a shocking fact for everyone that Romans & Chinese were using nanotechnologies centuries ago. Similarly, whenever you light a match it produces fullerenes. They were also using that substance since 1920 which makes the tires of car black and improves the resistance of rubber. As expected, they were not aware that they were using nanotechnology. Even they didn’t know about the nanoscale. They were also not applying nanotechnology as it is currently implemented and used.

The new thing in nanotechnology is our skills of not only seeing but also our understanding of atomic scale interactions.

DUAL-USE TECHNOLOGY:

As we are seeing that nowadays nanotechnology is very useful. It is also dual-use technology means we can use this technology in every manner. It will offer dandily meliorated skillfulness in every aspect of life. It is now in commercial use as well as military use to make more powerful weapons and tools of surveillance. Thus, it does not only show the benefits that it serves the humanity but also graves risk of destruction and devastation.

COST:

The main advantage of nanotechnology is cost-effectiveness. Just take the example of a computer, as it can make copies of data files at a very cheap price. In the same manner, nanotechnology is as cheap as its copied version and offers not only superior products, but a gigantically improved manufacturing process.

CONCLUSION:

Nanotechnology is similar to other branches of science as it offers the study of nature. We discussed above that how our research and our exertions to make devices and manipulations are still at a very primitive stage as compared to the nature. It is true that nature has ability to create highly efficient systems that can operate the whole function without any wastage, automatic artificial intelligence, fix only that which needs to be fixed, do only that which needs to be done and no more but still nanotechnology is in its childhood and many of its field are still opened and unexplored.
