Last season we all heard the news that English Premier League club Manchester City is took over by Sheikh Mansoor bin Zayad with the help of his limitless cash and attempted for kaka of AC Milan, bidding 100 million pounds. However we all know they could not make it happen. Few years back the same phenomenon occurred when Russian billionaire Roman Abrahamovich spent hundreds of millions on buying the top footballers from all around the Europe. And they won premiership in succession and numerous others.
No doubt it is the money which improved English football, Arsenal and Manchester United were only 2 main competitors of league title for years but Chelsea interrupted this and forced them to revive their benches and level of game. Sir Alex Ferguson and Arsen Wenger searched the new frontiers and which ultimately results in upliftment of the league.
Under the guidance of Rafael Benitez, Liverpool joined the elite group of English football which is now known as “Big 4”. And since 2005, an English club took part in every Champions league final. Before Chelsea’s blue revolution in 2003 this was an unthinkable thought in European football.
However the thing is this damage the beauty of the game of football. Its not the skills but money which now decides the title race. Managers like David Moyes did everything else then managing money and they are unable to take their teams to Champion League even once. And after surplus pounds of Manchester City life for such managers is going to be even worse.
Manchester United is successful due to their polished business model and peerless skills of their manger. Also they have endless youth talent but even after all that they need to spend a lot of cash to survive in the race and they cannot manage to keep winning without that.
The good old game of a football and 22 skilled men is now changed into a show of checkbooks where a bigger sum means more silverware. All the talents of a manager looks not so good in front of a wealthy owner.
