So, in a nutshell, your aim should be to market yourself in such a way that the interviewers feel compelled to make you a part of their organisation.
The first step to making a favourable impression is to ensure that your appearance is smart, well put-together and pleasing. Looking good in no way implies picking the most fashionable outfit in your closet. As it is the workplace, you should pick something that is conventional, professional- looking and elegant that emphasizes that you take pride in your appearance without getting carried away by it. A messy appearance is a sign of indifference and laziness.
The next tip is to show an interest in the job. By appearing unconcerned or uninterested, or even by sitting too quietly, you will be relaying to the interviewers that the job is not exciting enough for you to sit up and take notice. A lax attitude will invariably extend to your work ethics as well and nobody will be willing to hire an applicant who appears as though he or she could not care much about the job. Also, while there are appropriate pauses in the conversation, or when the interviewer gives you a chance to do so, it is important to ask questions regarding the job. This shows that you are interested in the job being offered to you. However, bear in mind that you do not ask fundamental questions as this will mean that you have not done any background research before applying.

Showing any form of irritation, disrespect, rudeness or brash behaviour may actually cost you the job. If there is an opinion being passed that you do not agree with, it is better to keep silent and simply listen. However, if that is not possible and you wish to clarify a point, remember to do so politely and make it clear that you appreciate the other person’s point of view. An arrogant attitude is offensive and acting as though you know more than the interviewer can earn you negative points.

While it is understandable that you may be nervous and the interviewers will certainly accommodate for some fear, let it not take control of you. Remember to speak clearly and calmly and to get your words across to the interviewers well. A pleasant and confident persona is a trait all interviewers are looking for.
