Infection control for the flu
Once infected there is no way out of flu but to let it run its course and subside, other than trying to stall it and cure it using medications and such like. However, as we all know, prevention is something that is always more viable than the cure of any ailment, may it be physical, mental or psychological. Therefore, here we will be discussing about the way in which you can help yourself and your family prevent catching the infection of the disease. Infection control is important because if you manage to prevent yourself from catching the disease then, I do not have to tell, you maybe saving yourself an untimely death.

The basic for every healthy body is personal hygiene and well keeping and it is no different with the flu. Good hygiene and healthy, clean personal habits will go a long way in helping you keep yourself and your family away from the flu. Especially, washing of hands and face a few times in the day, can go a long way in helping you keep your flu away. However, this washing of face and hands do not need to be done with any medicinal solution or whatever, but you can just use your normal day-to-day detergent or soap and get rid of flu virus. You will be surprised to know that this virus, all three types of it, can be easily deactivated with the help of detergents and soap. A alcohol hand wash is more effective but any other will also do. Sunlight is another good deactivator but it is neither possible nor advisable for you to sit in the sun for the entire day to stop flu from attacking you. Therefore, using a soap to wash yourself will do perfectly well.

The other thing that you can do coupled with the frequent use of soap to wash the most exposed area of your body like your face and hands is that, you can try using breathing masks. There is a common method of making a very safe mask if you do not already have one. The normal cloth masks that you find in the market are well and fine but if you want something effective then you can try this. Take any discarded bra and cut off a cup from the same. If the bra is padded then it is all the more efficient, but use this cup to make a mask for yourself, you will be safe.

You can also try keeping your house clean by wiping off surfaces with phenols or alcohol based wipes. Use of ammonium based quaternary compounds is usually highly recommended but any normal disinfectant will also work wonders.
