All the women are crazy about stacking their wardrobes and jewel boxes with different varieties of attire and jewelry. They buy the expensive jewelry not only for the sake of adorning but it is considered as an investment and it can be used at the times of crisis. Hence the jewelry must be taken care of and stored properly. We can find various ways to clean and preserve the jewelries.

    • When women work with strong chemicals while cleaning the house or working in the laboratories, it is advised not to wear any expensive jewelry as the top layer of these jewelries may get corroded.
   
    • On some kinds of jewelry with gem stones, water may have a negative effect. Hence it is better to remove such jewelry while bathing, swimming, doing house hold chores linked with water etc.

    • While cleaning the jewelry we must use warm water and mild soap varieties. The strong detergents and stain removers will destroy the fine appearance of the jewelry.

    • The jewelry must never be soaked in the water for a long time. They will get tarnished and turn black. Hence we must rinse the jewelry immediately after cleaning and they also must be dried with the help of soft cloth before we preserve them in the pouches or boxes.

    • While storing the jewelry, each piece must be separately wrapped in tissue paper or zip lock pouches hence they do not have any scratches or any other marks when we take them out for using.

    • Packing the jewelry separately retains their shining appeal, the pearls and other gem stones look brighter and new etc.

    • When dressing up we must put our make up, hairspray, perfume etc and when the business with cosmetics gets over, then we must wear the jewelries. This avoids the tarnishing of the jewelries.

    • Even the sweat may make the jewelry look dull and old. So while exercising, playing sports etc the wearing of the jewelry must be avoided.

    • Some gemstones like sapphires rubies etc can be cleaned with a proportionate mixture of ammonia and water which retains their glitter. But diamonds must not be washed with any ammonia based cleaner.

    • The opaque gemstones like turquoise and malachite must be wiped with moist cloth. The using of soaps on them will lead to discoloration.
