As responsible human beings, it is our foremost duty to protect our planet from the dangers of global warming. We must pass on a wonderful and nature filled earth to our successors. The effects of global warming are alarmingly increasing on the earth, living things and the natural resources. Let us look through some of the negative influences of global warming and how can we prevent them.


Effects:

     Due to the high rise in the temperature the ice capped mountains are slowly breaking apart and melting. The big sheets of ice from them are split apart and if they fall into the oceans, the sea level will dangerously increase and many of the beautiful coastal cities will be vanished under the oceans.

     The crop yields will be affected by the increase in the temperature. The rate of soil erosion will increase thus making the lands barren. Hence the diminishing of forests, water resources, wild life and other natural resources will start occurring rapidly.

     The temperature rise will be much more in the future when compared to the present. The oceans will start getting evaporated very fast and the rate of rainfall will be more creating floods and havocs. When half of the earth suffers from floods, the other half may face severe drought.

     The global warming will affect human health and increase the rate of mortality because of extreme weather conditions and rising infectious diseases.

Prevention:

     The power consumption can be decreased if every one of us opts for the low energy bulbs; avoid unnecessary power wastage etc. The water resources can be saved if we start using water wisely without wasting; we must constantly check for the dripping and leakage and change the faucets wherever necessary. When we cut trees for the sake of timber, we must plant more number of trees to keep the earth green and lively. Instead of using so many vehicles, the people living in apartments can share their vehicles with others. The same can be done with the neighbors every where. We must avoid using vehicles for short distances and we must learn to switch off the vehicles when we wait in the traffic signals. The regular servicing of the vehicles must be taken care of by the owners.
