D3O: The Magic Shock-Absorbent Gel
d3o is a new discovery, it's a special substance when hit by a solid object it hardens instantly and absorb the shock, then after the pressure is gone, this magic gel return back to its inital flexible state.

d3o: The Magic Gel

Richard Palmer, the inventor of this gel said "When moved slowly, the molecules will slip past each other, but in a high-energy impact they will snag and lock together, becoming solid ... In doing so they absorb energy."
d3o: Gel Applications

This gel will be used in a very wide range of applications like clothing, sports equipments, anti-bullets helmets, military equipments ...

Comments :
The British Ministry of Defense has awarded £100,000 to the company that has developed this substance.
Sounds like a Non-Newtonian liquid in a gel lattice.
D3O (dee-three-oh) : Is a specially engineered material made with intelligent molecules. They flow with you as you move but on shock lock together to absorb the impact energy.
Um, isn't that the same as cornstarch and water? When you hit it it's hard, and when you move your hand slowly its like a thick liquid.
Non-Newtonian fluid(period)
its a hydrocarbon though. its a crude oil derivative. but yeh as the article said its made from intelligent molecules which absorb shock
space age multimillion dollar custard?
reminds me of the shields used in the movie Dune. "The slow blade penetrates the shield"
Hey, I was wondering, can it be made into a liquid form? For something like shock absorber oil or something?
