What is cologne? Cologne does not linger around in the air for a long time like perfume, but makes the smell prevalent. It has more alcohol compared to perfume. The cost of the bottle is also one of the major differences.
What is perfume? Perfume is made up of animal and plant based aromatic compounds mixed with alcohol and essential oils. All these components are mixed in water and perfume is prepared. These oils help in treating a range of physical or psychological ailments and this process of treatment is called aroma therapy and it involves smelling oils and fragrance to treat these ailments. Difference between a cologne and perfume is as follows:
1. Cologne is a very good choice if you are too particular about the price. Though perfumes are costly, people consider them luxury and privileged to use. If you cannot buy a perfume bottle you can still shop for their samples.
2. Perfumes contain the highest concentration of essential oils to alcohol, it has around 30% by volume of oils while cologne contains about 5-8% of oil.
3. As perfume has more concentration of oils it costs more than cologne. It is a reason why people hesitate to buy them.
4. Perfume lasts long because it has more concentration of oil. If sprayed at key pulses and areas it can last for about 6-8 hours easily. On the other hand cologne has to be renewed for every 2 hours.
5. When it comes to number of days it would probably stay unconsumed, perfume is more effective and cologne is not. This is because cologne has less concentration of oil therefore it has to be sprayed a lot and therefore gets consumed faster.
