Wine, the drink offering for gods, is usually made of good tasting fermented grape juice, but can be also made from other fruits.
The etymology of the word: the English word wine comes from the Latin word “winam” meaning wine or grape.
Baccus or Dyonisus, the god of the wine and the one who has to put an end to worries, is considered in the Greak mythology the creator of wine.
But archeological digging revealed that wine existed much earlier than the Greek legend. The first dates in history about wines are from Asia in 5000BC and in Europe the proofs that wine was used by ancient civilizations too are to be found Greece.
The oldest types of grapes used in Europe for producing wine are Vitis Vinifera , still used today for producing Merlot, Chatdonnay or Pinnot Noir. There are two types of wines: varietal and blended wine. The varietal wine is basically made of a single type of grapes and blended wine is made of more grape types.
Nowdays, the wine is not categorized by quality and origin, but by the used grapes for making it. A wine classification based on the origin and product quality, takes place in Italy and Spain. Germany and France have a system based on the original control of wine, for example in France the exceeding of table wine is under original control. In each place on the earth, the classification and selling of the wines is different. Through the combination of the grapes variety (Pinot, Merlot) and the production zone (Rioja, Bordeaux).
Even at wines, the law of right and reserves and trademark of the author is applied, but their classification is made by their color, type, taste (table wine, red and white wine, dessert wine, rose wine, sparkling wines and so forth)
After tasting the wine, it can be classified by the first impression it made. The wine can have the specific aromas of condiments and fruits. Through the sugar amount it contains, the sweetness of the wine is determined after it has fermented.
Most of the companies import wine from Italy, which is the leader of in wine producing because of the big grapes amount produced in this country.
