Bell the ‘CAT’
‘Bell the CAT’, this phrase is often heard when November approaches. What actually is belling the CAT.?
CAT-Common Admission Test is the definition of the acronym .It is an entrance test conducted by the premier management institute in India for admission to Indian management schools.

The renowned b-schools in India, the Indian Institute of Management conduct these exams every year.
Over 2, 00, 00 appear to this exam to realize their dream of entering to the one of the best b-schools in India.
The best among them are the IIMs (Indian institutes of management) at various places Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Kolkotta, Luknow, and Kochin. Next best in the top are the private institutes like the MDI in Gurgoan, SP Jain in Mumbai etc.

Why CAT became so popular among the entrance tests. The reason behind this popularity is more students are opting for career in managements. Though there are many such exams conducted by other state level institutes, but CAT is among the top priority for many students. Most of the institutes take CAT score to filter the students for their intake.

CAT exam is one of the toughest exams next to the civil services exam in the country. Is it that tough to clear or crack or bell the CAT.? To answer this question let us first see what the typical pattern of the test is.

In general they have the following sections:

•    English grammar and usage
•    Vocabulary tests
•    Reading comprehension
•    Problem solving
•    Data sufficiency(mathematical)
•    Data sufficiency(logical)
•    Analytical reasoning
•    Data interpretation.

The pattern of the test keeps changing but has these sections in different order. Though so many sections, the CAT typically tests on the aptitude of the person. The students thinking ability is tested throughout the test. To be able to ace through every section one should have good logical abilities and good knowledge in basics.

So, it boils down to skill set of being logical and a good understanding of the basic concepts of mathematics, and a medium vocabulary. It just knowing or picking up questions which can be solved and leaving the rest, thus saving time and increasing your score.
