Anxiety
The term anxiety refers to a normal reaction to stress. It is a psychological state of mind in which somatic, emotional, behavioral and cognitive factors are involved which help a person to deal with stress in the situations like worry, uneasiness and fear. But when the anxiety limit is crossed due to excess panic or irrational fears of every day life, it can give rise to serious anxiety disorders like panic disorder, social phobia, obsessive compulsive disorder, post traumatic stress disorder and generalized anxiety disorder.

There may be various physical symptoms of anxiety in different people but the common ones are stomach aches, head aches, chest pain, fatigue, nausea, shortness of breath and heart palpitations. When the heart beat gets fast, it leads to high blood pressure and the body starts sweating, which results in increased blood flow in the muscle groups of the body and thus the immune system starts functioning in a better way. The visible symptoms of anxiety are pale skin, trembling, and sweating.

Fear is one of the most common symptoms of anxiety that can lead to panic attacks but they are not much commonly observed in anxiety patients. These attacks do not come with warning however the awareness of danger is very much there. Since panic attacks are associated with irrational fears, the person may feel that he is going to die or he may consider the chest pains as heart attack, or he may think that the head ache is the result of a tumor. Such irrational fears are not easy to be handled.

Apart from physical symptoms there are several symptoms that are related to emotions. These symptoms may include feeling tension, restlessness, feeling that you are unable to understand any thing as the mind is not working, feelings of apprehension, anticipating the worst, night mares, irrational fear of things around you, watching for mishappening and danger etc. A person suffering from anxiety may plan to escape by drug addiction and tries to avoid the world around him.

Anxiety can be overcome by psychological and proper medical treatments. Sometimes the change in the environment can help a person feel better.
